A review of Forest Community Centre by Gillian Caldwell written on Monday 3rd of April 2017
I attend a Monday evening dance at The Forest Arts Community Centre, along with others of a like mind. We all gain inner happiness from the evening.
Widows, widowers and those who live alone depend on this outing. Maybe we don't speak to anyone all day, but here we are able to hear music, exercise our bodies and find fun and friendship.
Company, Social activity, Mental work,Physical movement for nearly two hours give us what old people need in life. It is a great joy to hear the laughter and banter.
We have made an effort to get up, get showered, dress in our best attire, and meet up with friends. The alternative would be to slump in a chair in front of the TV alone, sad, unhappy, and become depressed and have dementia needing Care.
At what cost ?
Yes. our dance evening is our salvation. We are taught a variety of dances by a young couple. Our balance is improved, and our spirits are lifted.
We arrive tired but leave full of zest.
WHAT A SPLENDID CLASS. BUT It is about to be brought to a close.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO SAVE US ?.
